A wonderful afternoon of music was had in the Iona Theatre!
The String Orchestra kicked off the afternoon off under the direction of Mark Brown. They played a repertoire of well-rehearsed string arrangements that created a relaxed atmosphere on a warm Spring afternoon.
Followed by our Primary String Ensemble, led by tutor Lesley Priest. This showed the techniques and ensemble skills of students who have continued with their string tuition after their Year 3 String experiences.
Year 7 Student Charles Hammond, shared how his interest in learning the cello grew from taking part in the string program when he was in Year 3.
The focus then shifted to the tuneful debut performance of the whole Year 3 cohort. This showcased the skills learnt this year in their select instruments of cello, viola or violin.
Beautifully conducted under the direction of Amy Corrigan, the collection of pieces played were joyful, skilful and entertaining for the supportive audience of staff, family and friends.
Congratulations to all the students and their teachers!
