In 2014 Floyd returned to Australia to pursue journalism at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. Floyd thrived at CSU, in his second year taking on a role as a news cadet with the news service for community radio, National Radio News (NRN). He also hosted a weekly radio show on local station 2MCE, and produced and presented a fortnightly show broadcast across the community radio network called Never Talk Politics. Floyd also became a writer for CSU’s student magazine, Interp, and after a year writing for the publication, became Editor-in-Chief.
Floyd’s real passion was in television, and in his second year he began interning with PRIME7 News in Orange. After a few stints at the station, Floyd was offered a full-time role as a reporter covering a large part of Central-Western NSW. In his role he has covered everything from terror raids to landmark state by-elections, once in a generation floods and Australia’s biggest Elvis festival.
In 2016 Floyd graduated from CSU with a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) and moved into the position of Senior Journalist for PRIME7 News Central West.
Floyd feels the opportunities he was given at SCAS, including the school captaincy, equipped him with important skills that have helped in his further studies and career.
