Year 10 students Finneas Vicars, Taya McLean, and Elsie Wallace made a significant impact during Week 11 of Term 1 through their participation in the NSW Legislative Council’s Bicentennial Regional Roadshow. Hosted by Charles Sturt University, the NSW Legislative Council’s Bicentennial Regional Roadshow is a prestigious occasion celebrating the legislative history of New South Wales. Despite being Year 10 students among predominantly Year 11 and 12 attendees, Finneas, Taya, and Elsie demonstrated remarkable maturity and enthusiasm, engaging actively in formal proceedings and discourse.
All three students participated in the Youth Forum at Charles Sturt University, contributing significantly to discussions on pressing issues. Their involvement exemplified SCAS’s commitment to empowering students to advocate for causes they are passionate about and engage in meaningful conversations.
As a part of this Roadshow, Finneas participated in a Public Speaking Competition and delivered a compelling speech on climate action under the theme “Actions Speak Louder Than Words”.
It was inspiring to witness Finn, Taya, and Elsie using their voices to address important concerns and represent SCAS with pride and conviction. We commend them for their outstanding efforts and commendable performance in these challenging and prestigious events. Well done to all three students for exemplifying leadership, passion, and maturity on such significant platforms!
