We are excited to welcome Mrs Jessica Power to our Primary team at SCAS! Jessica joins us as the teacher of the Year 4 Pythons, and brings with her a wealth of experience and passion for education.
Jessica began her teaching career with an internship at Hunter Valley Grammar School. From there, she contributed her talents to Scots All Saints College in Bathurst. Jessica’s commitment to both her profession and her family is inspiring. While raising her two children, she pursued her academic aspirations and obtained a Master of Education (Gifted) with Distinction.
In 2023, Jessica and her family made the move to Port Macquarie. During this transition, she continued to share her expertise through casual work at various schools, further enriching her teaching repertoire. Now, we are fortunate to have her as a full-time member of our staff, where she brings her invaluable insights and dedication to the classroom every day.
We are privileged to have Jessica as part of our SCAS family, and we look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly make on our students’ lives.
We asked Jessica some questions to find out a little more about her interests and passions.
What are you looking forward to most at SCAS in 2024?
As we embark on this academic year, I eagerly anticipate witnessing the remarkable growth and flourishing of our Year 4 group. As this is my first class since moving to Port Macquarie, these Pythons will hold a special place in my heart.
What was your favourite co-curricular activity as a student?
100 % sport. Students will experience the passion I have for sport when they meet me on the courts.
What is your favourite thing to do on the weekend?
Swimming, going to the beach, fishing and grabbing a caramel milkshake.
What was your latest good read?
I highly encourage the interested reader to check out ‘Gratitude Practices for Teachers’ by Dr Kerry Howells and Dr Jo Lucas. Flick to page 2 and see my endorsement.
Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I couldn’t help myself, so here are three, but only two are true:
- I have 5 brothers.
- I grew up in Canberra.
- I rode 160 kms through the Dandenong’s.
PS, catch me to find out the facts!
