We extend a very warm welcome to Mr Jordan Best, who will be working with Year 1 Quokkas in 2024. Jordan is a SCAS graduate who completed Kindergarten to Year 12 at the school, and we are delighted to welcome him back to SCAS, where his journey in education began.
Jordan worked as a teachers aide at Wauchope Public School while completing his teaching degree, and then spent two years teaching at Hastings Public School.
We are very excited to have Jordan’s enthusiasm, expertise and dedication enriching the Year 1 Quokkas classroom.
We asked Jordan a few questions to get to know him better.
What are you looking forward to most at SCAS in 2024?
Being a part of the amazing and supportive culture and community SCAS offers, and embarking on the crazy adventure that is Year 1.
What was your favourite co-curricular activity as a student?
BAND!!! The band camps we went on were incredible – they hold very fond memories from my time at SCAS and something I will always remember.
What is your favourite thing to do on the weekend?
Go to the beach with my wife and two border collies. Also partial to a milkshake during this process.
What was your latest good read?
Lord of the Rings got me hooked very quickly when I was younger, thanks to my eldest sister being an English teacher and reading The Hobbit during Year 10 (I think?).
Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I eat 14 Weet-Bix for breakfast. I used to eat my age in Weet-Bix for breakfast, but I had to stop in Year 10 because consuming 16 of them, along with the required amount of milk, became too much. My mother should have bought shares in Sanitarium when I was born—I’d love to calculate how many I’ve had over the years. I can only recall three occasions when I didn’t have Weet-Bix for breakfast.
